To perform a prone Hamstring curl: Position yourself on the machine with your stomach facing down and your legs hanging off the end of the platform. Place your heels on the ankle pads and adjust the pads so that they are securely in place around your ankles. Grasp the handles on the side of the machine for stability. Keeping your upper body relaxed and still, lift your heels towards your buttocks by contracting your hamstrings. Hold the contraction for a moment, then slowly lower your heels back down to the starting position. Repeat the exercise for the desired number of repetitions. ... See MoreSee Less

My name is Janet Ashurst and I am a group fitness instructor and have been teaching at the Summit for 13 years. I have a background in martial arts and was a Tae Kwon Do Black Belt instructor. I currently teach Spin, Body Blast and POUND classes.I have to say that my favorite class to teach is POUND. POUND is a drumming- inspired full body cardio workout done to awesome music. We use drumstick that weigh 1/4 pound each that forces you to engage and tighten you core and muscles. It can be done by all age groups as modifications are provided for the workout. Some benefits of Pound include: it engages your brain to focus, lowers blood pressure, decreases anxiety, improves balance and helps improve overall cardiovascular health. If you want to get out some pent- up frustration and aggression, have fun, laugh and leave class feeling great, then join us on Tuesdays at 5pm. ... See MoreSee Less
